The Ancestry Tour

Highlight of your journey to the Czech Republic

Tour Itinerary

A day tour

At the agreed time, I will pick you up at the place of your stay, hotel or apartment and we will set off on a journey to the places where your ancestors lived. Along the way, we will go through the records I found during my extensive research and we will certainly find time for your personal memories of those whose traces we will look for during our journey. Along the way, we will stop at the Museum of rural life and vernacular architecture to learn about how your ancestors lived in the past, what tools they used for working the fields, kitchen ware needed for cooking and baking. There you will see what everyday life was like for your ancestors before they landed in the US, what skills they brought with them to help them succeed.

Transportation

Then we will continue directly to the places, towns or villages that were the subject of my previous genealogical research. In addition to visiting family houses connected by your relatives, we will also search the cemeteries where your relatives are buried and we will take a look at the parish church where they were married. If possible, we will meet with a local representative, a history recorder to ask them detailes of the family. Perhaps would be possible to make a brief visit with your distant relatives.
After the exciting day we will not forget to stop at a local restaurant and taste some famous Czech delicacy, such as beef goulash with dumplings, a potato pancake with cabbage and a sample of well-chilled Czech beer.
If time and strength allow, we will discover other sights and attractions of the Czech landscape on the way back.
Throughout our trip, we will have a car with a professional experienced driver who will take us wherever we decide to go.

Tips and Hints

The all-day program requires transport by a comfortable fully air-conditioned van (Ford or Mercedes), with plenty of space and comfort for long-distance driving. In the case of a group of more than six people, transport will be provided by a small bus. A professional, fully licensed and English-speaking driver is a matter of course. The price for transport includes fuel, tolls and parking.
The Ancestry tour is designed as driving, with short walks on streets and also on outdoor unpaved terrain. I recommend to wear comfortable outdoor shoes and cloths. A bottle of water and snacks will come in handy at any time.
